About Reliable Auto Repair

Reliable Auto Repair first opened its doors in 1986, founded by Tom and Linda Johnson in a modest two-bay garage on the edge of Jerome, ID. At the time, Tom was a young mechanic with years of dealership experience, while Linda managed the books and greeted customers at the front desk. With little more than determination, a strong work ethic, and a desire to serve their neighbors, they built a reputation for honest repairs and friendly service.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Jerome began to grow, and so did Reliable Auto Repair. What started as a small operation quickly expanded into a full-service facility as word spread of the Johnsons’ commitment to fair pricing and dependable workmanship. By the mid-1990s, the shop had added more service bays, hired its first ASE Certified technicians, and upgraded equipment to handle a wider variety of repairs. Many of those early customers still bring their vehicles to us today—and some even send their children and grandchildren.

As the shop entered the 2000s, Tom and Linda’s son, Mark Johnson, took on a larger role in the business. Growing up in the shop, Mark had learned the trade from his father and shared the same passion for both cars and community. Under his leadership, Reliable Auto Repair embraced modern diagnostic technology while continuing to uphold the traditional values the shop was founded on. Today, Mark manages the day-to-day operations, supported by a skilled team of ASE Certified mechanics who are proud to carry on the Johnson family legacy.

From the beginning, our philosophy has been simple: treat every customer like family and every car like it’s our own. That approach has guided us through decades of change in the automotive industry.
